Body-Mind Wellness through Art & Creative Self-Expression: An Interactive Workshop with Prof. Girija Kaimal

Join Dr. Girija Kaimal, Associate Professor & Interim Chair of the Department of Creative & Art Therapies, College of Nursing & Health Professions, for an interactive discussion on the relationship between art and wellness.

During the event, Dr. Kaimal will discuss her research on the physiological and psychological health outcomes of visual and narrative self-expression. She will also highlight concepts from her most recent book, The Expressive Instinct, which explores the questions: What is the purpose of art in our lives? Could the desire for beauty, to be surrounded by elements of nature, be an innate need? Are art and creative expression essential for a good life?

Learn and practice several different ways creative expression can help you build resilience for dealing with stress, uncertainty, and change during this interactive session.

Creative Expression Activity: All art supplies needed for the creative expression activity will be provided for in-person attendees.
