Building Connections to Scholarship: Using Archives, An Introduction to Archival Research
Archives contain rich collections of unique primary sources, but the methods for finding archival material that could inform your work are much different than secondary research you do in the Drexel Libraries and online.
This webinar provides an overview of how to use archives in your research, from understanding what an archives is and how they are organized to finding and identifying appropriate archives for your research and what to expect when visiting an archives. We will also explore the many types of archives available and the often unexpected places they may be found – there are far more available to you than you might realize!
Who should attend: This webinar is designed for Drexel faculty, staff, and students who are first-time archives users and scholars who have already conducted research in archives and would like to better understand how to approach doing research with archival collections.
Presented by: Simon Ragovin, Archives Technician
Recorded sessions: If you can’t attend a live webinar, don’t worry! We will provide a link to the webinar recording following the event.

About the Building Connections to Scholarship Webinar Series:
Highly active research universities are dependent on strong connections to scholarship and research data output. At Drexel, the Libraries provides a variety of resources, support services and partnerships to facilitate and build such connections, from ensuring access to authoritative information to shaping future research by providing—and guiding the effective use of—tools and systems to facilitate global connections to Drexel-generated research output.
Through the Libraries new Connecting to Scholarship webinar series, expert librarians share their knowledge of these tools and systems to support Drexel faculty and researchers’ productivity and to prepare graduate students and professional staff for successful research practices.
Designed for anyone who does research, webinars in the series will address issues such as:
How to find funding through the Pivot database
How to navigate changes to the APA Style Guide 7th edition
How to choose a repository for your research
Using Sage Research Methods to demystify social science research
What’s new in PubMed
Navigating archival research and archives
