Beyond the Rules: The Hidden Life within Student Handbooks

The Drexel University Archives’ latest exhibit, Beyond the Rules: The Hidden Life within Student Handbooks, invites you to explore Drexel’s past through its collection of student handbooks, popularly known as D-Books.

D-Books featured in the exhibit were published from 1944 to 2005 and include University policies, procedures and student expectations—everything from the words to Drexel fight songs, university traditions and legends, to important information about public safety and health services. The exhibit also includes several unofficial handbooks and survival guides published by The Triangle, Drexel’s student newspaper.

Visit the exhibit and explore these unique artifacts to get a glimpse into student life at Drexel from the 1940s through the early 2000s.

This exhibition was curated by Erin White, History, ’26, Drexel University Archives Assistant

The exhibition is free and open to the public now through December 2025.
