Author Talk at Hagerty Library: Dr. Girija Kaimal & Co-Authors on How Creative Self-Expression Can Promote Mental Health & Well-Being Online
Join us for an interactive conversation with Dr. Girija Kaimal, EdD, ATR-BC, Drexel Professor and Chair of the Creative Art Therapies program in the College of Nursing & Health Professions.
Dr. Kaimal will discuss her co-edited new book, Arts-Based Approaches to Promote Mental Health & Well-Being, which includes contributions from several Drexel graduate students. Dr. Kaimal will share real-world examples from Save the Children's global HEART initiative (Healing and Education Through the Arts). The book describes examples from around the world on how children, families and caregivers have used their creative capacities as a means to navigate psychosocial challenges in times of adversity.
The authors will also lead a hands-on art and movement activity to demonstrate the benefits of creative expression for stress relief and mental health, regardless of age.
Presented in partnership with the College of Nursing & Health Professions.
