Funding NGOs During COVID-19: Donations & Misinformation

Funding NGOs During COVID-19: Donations & Misinformation

Many Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) came into the spotlight during COVID-19. As the visibility of the work and services of these organizations increased during the pandemic, donations to these institutions also increased. But how did misinformation play a role in this trend as the world was facing global lockdowns?

Attend this event hosted by one of the Drexel Libraries' own Information Explorers. The event will feature a pre-recorded video with Swaraj Shetty, Director and Co-founder of Khaana Chahiye Foundation, who will discuss the Foundation’s work and how they earned people’s trust during the COVID-19 pandemic. The session will help attendees understand what to assess when donating money to NGOs.

This workshop is open to all Drexel students, as well as faculty and staff.

About the Libraries’ Information Explorer Program

The goal of this program is to engage DUL students with information literacy concepts (such as how misinformation is spread, and the impact of unequal access to information), and to inspire them to engage their peers at Drexel with those concepts. Students are provided the opportunity to deepen their understanding of information literacy concepts and work actively and collaboratively with DUL student workers to create content and activities that raise awareness among Drexel students about the importance of information literacy.
