POSTPONED -- ScholarSip: Winter 2020

UPDATE: March 12, 2020

The Drexel Libraries is committed to maintaining the health and safety of all members of its community. In light of concerns surrounding COVID-19, we have decided to postpone the ScholarSip event scheduled for Monday, March 16.

We have tentatively rescheduled the event for Monday, June 15, with more details to follow.

Winter ScholarSip:

This year, the Libraries' quarterly ScholarSip event series addresses the theme University and Industry Research Collaborations.

Each term, a distinguished Drexel professor will offer “food for thought” on the benefits and challenges of conducting and disseminating research when academics collaborate with industry.

This quarter, we are pleased to welcome our guest speaker

Banu Onaral, PhD
H. H. Sun Professor and Senior Advisor to the President, Global Partnerships
School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems

Professor Onaral will share insights gained from years of personal experience in building research and innovation bridges between academia and industry locally, regionally and globally. She will provide case studies that illustrate initiation, maintenance and growth of long-lasting and peer-to-peer ‘organic partnerships’ that are robust enough to navigate an ever-changing industrial, corporate, political and global landscape.

All Drexel faculty and professional staff are invited to join us for what promise to be lively conversations with colleagues.

About ScholarSip
Now in its ninth year, ScholarSip is an annual event series hosted by the Drexel University Libraries that seeks to nurture Drexel’s intellectual life and cross-campus community through informal gatherings where faculty and professional staff exchange ideas sparked by greater awareness of interdisciplinary research.
Each event includes social time to build acquaintances and a short “food for thought” presentation from a member of the Drexel community. ScholarSip provides an opportunity for members of the Drexel community to gather for conversation – along with a toast to the end of the academic term.
