Open Textbooks Conversations: Session 1

Drexel University Libraries invites you to attend our “Open Textbooks Conversations.” During these one-hour discussions, Libraries staff along with Lloyd Ackert, Teaching Professor of History and Library Fellow, will discuss the challenges associated with requiring textbooks and other course materials. Evidence shows that the high costs of these materials can be a financial burden for some students and can result in poor results in a course. We will discuss the alternatives to this approach, including Open Educational Resources (OER), Drexel Library Course Reserves, and Open Textbooks. This pilot program also will introduce faculty to a new Open Textbook workshop initiative beginning in Fall 2018.
