ScholarSip: Celebrate the last day of classes with fellow faculty and professional staff during the next ScholarSip event!

ScholarSip provides an opportunity for members of the Drexel community to gather for conversation – along with a toast to the end of the academic term.

The theme of the 2017/2018 event series is Research Matters: Connecting Drexel to Global Scholarship.

During each quarterly event, a distinguished Drexel professor will address this year’s theme by reflecting on how the dissemination of research through publication is critical to the development of knowledge in a particular field.

This year’s speakers have been selected from those Drexel researchers named in the top 1 percent by citations in their field by Clarivate Analytics’ 2016 Highly Cited Researchers list and include Yury Gogotsi, PhD; Ana V. Diez Roux, MD; and Gordon T. Richards, PhD.

To compile the 2016 list, Clarivate Analytics looked at highly cited papers published between 2004 to 2014 and identified authors whose papers rank in the top 1% by citations in each of its 22 main subject fields. This analysis named more than 3,000 researchers with global influence in 2016, including four Drexel authors who were recognized at last year’s annual Celebrating Drexel Authors Event.

This quarter, we are pleased to welcome our guest speaker

Gordon Richards, PhD

Department of Physics
College of Arts & Sciences

Dr. Richards will address this year’s theme by reflecting on why and how dissemination of research through publication is critical to the development of knowledge in a particular field.

We look forward to seeing you there!

About ScholarSip
Now in its seventh year, ScholarSip is an annual event series hosted by the Drexel University Libraries that seeks to nurture Drexel’s intellectual life and cross-campus community through informal gatherings where faculty and professional staff exchange ideas sparked by greater awareness of interdisciplinary research. Each event includes social time to build acquaintances and a short “food for thought” presentation from a member of the Drexel community.
